Firm History

The law firm of Schmidt & Kirifides was founded in January 1997. Vasil and Mark knew that they worked well together, and wanted to direct their talents toward helping injured workers and their families. They launched Schmidt & Kirifides with the goal of providing high-quality representation and personal attention to those injured on the job.
In March 1997, Vasil and Mark added Eric Pearson to their firm. Jonathan Koutcher joined in September of that year. Later, the firm name changed to Schmidt, Kirifides, Pearson & Koutcher.
In 2007, the firm celebrated its 10th anniversary and added Mark Fridkin to their team. Fridkin brought with him more than 25 years of experience in plaintiffs' personal injury having previously served as a partner in a Philadelphia firm. To their offices in Media, Pa. and Wilmington, De., the firm added a Center City, Philadelphia location. The combined practice continues under the name Schmidt, Kirifides, Pearson, Koutcher & Fridkin, a professional corporation.
Since its inception, Schmidt, Kirifides, Pearson, Koutcher & Fridkin has exceeded its founders' goals. What is Workers' Compensation?
Pennsylvania's Workers' Compensation Act requires nearly all employers to provide Workers' Compensation insurance for their employees. The insurance provides full medical, total and partial disability, permanent disfigurement and physical rehabilitation benefits to injured employees, provided their Workers' Compensation claims are approved. In the event that a worker is killed on the job, death benefits are payable to the worker's surviving spouse and dependents.
Workers' Compensation is also known as workers' comp, workman's compensation, workman's or workmen's comp, and workmen's compensation.
